View Video Tribute Scott A. Speelman, age 19, of rural Bryan, Ohio, died early Sunday morning from injuries sustained in an auto accident south of Edgerton. He was a 2004 graduate of Edgerton High School, where he played football as a place kicker and defensive end. He played baseball for two years and was a member of the FFA. He was employed by MINTEQ in Bryan, Ohio. Scott A. Speelman was born November 22, 1985, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of John A. “Sonny” and Vanessa L. (Walsh) Speelman. Scott is survived by his parents, Vanessa L. Birky, of Bryan, Ohio, John A. “Sonny” Speelman, of Edgerton, Ohio, two brothers, Weston Birky and Cord Wilson-Speelman, and one sister, Amber Birky, all of Bryan, Ohio. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Jerry (Mary) Walsh, of Bryan, Ohio, paternal grandmother, Ally (and Jerry VanNortwic) Speelman, of Lake Seneca, maternal great-grandmother, Muriel Wagner, of Defiance, Ohio, and paternal great-grandmother, Lorena Babb. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Speelman, and his great-grandparents. Services for Scott A. Speelman will be Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Dennis Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, April 15. Memorials in the name of Scott A. Speelman may be given to the Edgerton Athletic Boosters - Football Fund.
