David E. Connelly

David E. Connelly, age 81, of rural Farmer, Ohio, died at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Center, Bryan, Ohio. A graduate of Farmer High School and The Ohio State University, Mr. Connelly was a self-employed farmer. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Mr. Connelly was a Second Lieutenant in the Army during the Japanese Occupation from 1944-1946. He was a Life member and Commander of the Farmer American Legion Post #137 for the past 12 years, a Past-President of the Saddle & Sirloin Club at The Ohio State University, a Past President of the Farmer Board of Education, a Board of Director member and Secretary of the Ney Co-op Elevator Board, a Board Member and President of the Northwest Electric Cooperative, a past advisor of the Rocking H 4-H Club and a member of the American Tree Farm Association. David E. Connelly was born on October 1, 1923, in Transfer, Pennsylvania, the son of Walter and Essie (Struble) Connelly. He married Gloria L. Cole on September 18, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Gloria, Mr. Connelly is survived by one daughter, Susan L. Oskey of Farmer, Ohio; two sons, David L. (Stacy) Connelly of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and James A. (Nancy) Connelly of Farmer; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Kent) English of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Matt (Teresa) Oskey of Bryan, Ohio, Sarah and Craig Oskey of Farmer, Ohio, Brett Connelly of Washington, D.C., and Erin Connelly of Upper Arlington, Ohio; four great-grandsons, Sebastian, Darius and Kaemon Oskey and Cain Pearson; three sisters, Mabel Stamler of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mildred Chatterton of Farmer, Ohio, and Florence (David) Poulson of Farmer, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene S. Connelly. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. in Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio, with Pastor Greg Wack officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Farmer American Legion Post #137. Visitation for Mr. Connelly will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Memorials in the name of David E. Connelly may be given to the Farmer American Legion Post #137, The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
