Dutton Hood, Jr., age 88, of Cecil, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at his home. Dutton was a machinist at SK Hand Tools and retired with over 40 years of service to the company. He was a member of the Paulding Nazarene Church. Dutton was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, especially coon hunting, fishing and was a Master Gardener. Dutton was a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Family was most important to Dutton, especially time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dutton Hood, Jr. was born May 17, 1938, in East Stone Gap, VA, the son of Dutton Hood, Sr. and Myrtle (Wilson) Hood. He married Shirley Kilgore and she preceded him in death on March 1, 1987. He married Linda Crawford on May 29, 1993, and she survives.

Dutton is also survived by his son, Ron Hood, of Defiance, Ohio; daughter, Lori (Kelly) Barton, of Fort Wayne, IN; step daughters, Jamie (David) Bennett, and Christine (Thomas) Reed, both of Louisville, KY and Michele (Jason) Nay, of Kimberly, ID; grandchildren, Lauron (Bob) Adkins, of Edgerton, Samantha (Steve) Shepherd, of Fort Wayne, and Austin (Bree) Fishpaw, of Defiance; step grandchildren, Grant Pillsbury, of Dallas, TX, Grace Pillsbury, of Louisville, William Reed, of Indianapolis, Elizabeth Reed, of Louisville, Allison (JT) Ryan, of New Albany, IN and Michael (Destiny) Nay and Rebecca (Matt) Read, both of Salt Lake City; great grandchildren, Kyla, Beau, Lizzie, Noa, Sienna, Archer and Blakely and step great grandchildren, Blaire and Atlas, and sister, Lois Kinsler, of Big Stone Gap, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley Hood; son, Larry Hood; brothers, Jack and Doug Hood and sisters, Mary Eldridge, Jean Buell and Shirley Buell.

Honoring Dutton's wishes, funeral services will be private for the family. His arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, OH.
