Harold J. Blevins, age 83, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 9:15 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. As a young man he worked in the coal mines of Virginia and was later employed as a brakeman for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for fifteen years. He enjoyed woodworking and electrical and mechanic work and was an all-around handyman who could fix most anything. Harold J. Blevins was born on July 13, 1939, in Castlewood, Russell County, Virginia, the son of Creed Clinton and Lois Angalie (Bush) Blevins. He married his wife of nearly sixty-four years, Hattie Jane Carico, on January 30, 1959, in Lebanon, Virginia, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Rex (Denise) Blevins, of Stryker, Ohio, and Mick (Jen) Blevins, of Bryan; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Sandra) Blevins, in Saint Clair, Tennessee; and one sister, Nancy Cooper, of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Blevins; and two sisters, Clara (Everett) Price and Shirley Blevins. A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Stryker Fire Hall in Stryker, Ohio, beginning at 12:00 noon. Memorials are requested to the Parkinson’s Association or the Diabetes Association. Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, has been entrusted with arrangements.
