Joel David Manning, age 70, of Edon, Ohio, passed away at 5:18 P.M. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a brief illness. Mr. Manning was employed by Simpson Industries/Metaldyne, which became Diversified Tool, for thirty-five years as a truck driver and then a tool setter with a total of forty-six years with the company. In retirement he drove truck for Edon Co-op. He was a member of Bryan 1st Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Joel David Manning was born on June 3, 1950, in McComas, West Virginia, the son of Charles Henry and Annie Elizabeth (Purdy) Manning, Jr. He married Emma J. Nave on December 8, 1968, in Princeton, West Virginia, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Chris (Ed) Hulbert, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one son, Jon (Tori) Manning, of Burlington, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Karlee Elizabeth Hulbert and Christian Joel and Arabella Grace Manning; one brother, Terry (Juanita) Manning, of Edon; and three sisters, Brenda Trausch, of Edon, Jalyne Bryant, and Vickie Bray. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Purdy. In keeping with David’s requests, there will be no visitation and a private grave side service and interment will be held in Edon Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Bryan 1st Assembly of God Church.
