Stephen James Batterson, age 72, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at his home following a brief illness. Steve was a lifelong farmer. He attended Archbold Evangelical Church, served as a chaplain at CCNO for over 10 years, served as a Jefferson Township Trustee for 22 years and was the director of the Holiday City/Jefferson Township Visitors Bureau.
Stephen James Batterson was born January 4, 1952 in Napoleon, Ohio, the son of Robert and Donna (Hoff) Batterson. He was a 1970 graduate of Hilltop High School. He married Joan D. Rice on April 5, 1975, in Archbold and she survives.
Steve is also survived by his sons, Brian (Trisha) Batterson, Kevin (Amanda) Batterson, both of Bryan and Matthew (Bettina) Batterson, of Wauseon; 8 grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Andrew, Abram, Abel, Kelly, Violet and Kimberly; brothers, William “Bill” (Kay) Batterson and James (Deanne) Batterson, both of Bryan and sister, Kathleen (David) Everingham, of Grosse Isle, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Polly Batterson.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will begin at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Mike Rice officiating.
The family requests memorial contributions to an organization of the donor’s choice.
